“Stories draw their power from their meaning. If you ask me, challenging readers’ beliefs is not a weakness but a strength…Truth can be uncomfortable. It can also be comforting. Whatever it is, it is necessary to speak it” ~Donald Maass, The Fire in Fiction
My first novel underwent many, many drafts. I was stubborn; it took me awhile to go ahead and put what needed to be in the story…in the story. I confess I worried that someone would be offended if I twisted religion a bit with The Ghosting of Gods. But it was necessary, in my view, and it was the only way it would really be me writing the story.
Anyway, I decided not to hold back after reading the above words by Donald Maass. Interesting that when I wrote what I really wanted to, I finally found that publisher. Hmmm. ~Cricket
